Can Bad People Be Saved?
Many believe you have to be good to be saved! They spend a lot of effort modifying their behavior to make it happen! Are they on the right track?
What about those who are weak-willed? How about people who have a hard time being good? Aren't some people just predestined to be lost? Does being bad preclude us from being saved?
Listen to what Jesus says about goodness, badness and being saved:
"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance" Mark 2:17.
How God Treats Bad People
Jesus came to this planet because He loved people (good and bad). And He still loves them today. He even loves those who think they are good but are really bad. He wants to save as many people as possible. Peter says the Lord is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9.
Repentance is a gift--a new attitude toward God and ourselves. When we have repentance, we gladly turn away from anything that damages our relationship with God.
Only in Jesus does our badness qualify us as candidates for a makeover. If you're "bad" and don't know it, God has ways of getting your attention and helping you see the real you! If you're bad enough to be lost and know it, you are ready for the makeover Jesus has to offer!
